What can you tell me about Eagle Lake, Ontario. Especially the West End. I am heading up there with a group of 11+ other guys in September 9-14 to the West end, Reservation at Stanley's Resort. www.stanleys.com

Best Baits and Techniques, etc. in targeting:
Walleye's?
Smallmouth Bass?
Lake Trout?
Additionaly Whitefish, Pike and Musky?

I will send a complete report with photo's when we return.

Got back late Saturday evening 9/13 from a great time at Stanley's Resort on the West Arm of Eagle Lake. 10-hour drive with breakfast and gas stops from Chanhassen. Stanley's is approx. 80 miles due North of International Falls, 160 miles by road. www.stanleys.com

No problems at border, (3-vehicles) everyone carrying loaded boats with an extra 20+/- gallons of gas.

They took great care of us, best parts were hosspitality with Large Cabins to accomodate our large group of 12 guys. Very comfortable and roomy. Secondly was the docking and fishing cleaning service. They Fillet your catch for you and either setup for your fish fry or vacumn seal in freeze bags, freeze and label to bring home. They sent a guide with us for a half day to show us some spots and then showed us on a map a spot for Lake Trout on a Portage Lake where they furnished boats and gas.

We hammered the Lakers with everyone bringing home a License Limit of Lake Trout and Walleye's with a few Smallies and Northern's thrown in for good measure.

See attached photo, I am the short guy holding my 26 1/2" Laker. The 6 of us in this photo fished approx 3 1/2 hours bringing in 10 Lakers and 1 Northern from 80 fow. The action all came accoriding to the celestial charts in my Garmin GPSMAP76 best time 9:35-11:35am.

One of the funniest moments was when one guy thought he was snagged on a rock, his boat partner said "Hey DUDE, I think your ROCK is MOVING". He brought up a 25" Laker.

If anybody wants it, I can send you a .kmz file from Google Earth showing my GPS Tracks as to where we fished. You can then open and view in Google Earth.

The weather was awesome with a low of 36 and a high of 76 sending guys into shorts and t-shirts Thursday & Friday afternoon.

I was very happy with my boat (16.5' Sylvan Backtroller w/55HP Suzuki) performance in as much running around as we did, only used approx 3-gallons of gas. Although used trolling motors to hold location and slow troll through areas. It handle very well with 3-guys and gear, hit top speed of 30mph at 5,000rpm.

I want to go back

time to get back to work is over.

Carroll, i've been to that resort about three times when i was younger, really nice place, the fishing sure has improved though! Slow fishing from lots of pressure is why we stopped going. You are right though, the accomidations are amazing!

Now the lake where you caught the lakers, would that happen to be Teague (pronounced Te-gun). That lake is by far one of the best places i've ever been on earth. The 3rd deepest lake in Canada, crystal blue water, indian petroglyths, and several other historical stories.

Seeing your picture on the dock there brings back many memories of that place when i was younger, i'm only 24 but it seems like years ago that i was there! That was where my first canada trip was!

Actually the Portage Lake was "CrabClaw", just a little West of the Resort. The Owners dad told a couple of my buddies the spot on the lake to find them.
