Algoma Trip

#701004 - 08/18/08 10:25 AM

I just got back from Algoma yesterday and we did fairly well for the year that they are having out there. Our group of 6 guys brought home 18 fish. We did 3 6 hr charters and caught fish all 3 days. The first trip was friday afternoon which landed us 4 fish. The largest was just under 21 lbs. Also that day we caught 1 that was 17 lbs.

Saturday morning found us hitting the lake early and were rewarded for the trip. We caught 9 fish that day with several fish in the 14 lb range. Most fish coming just as the sun came up.

Sunday morning was again an early start. This time we caught 5 fish. Again most were right at sunrise. After the sun came up we only had 1 fish hit.

All in all it was a good trip. We heard from charter that they were out on Sat for 8 hrs and did not get 1 bite. The bite remains slow out there with warm water all the way down. For awhile on saturday our rigger temp was 73 and the surface temp was 70. Not the best thing to see. I will get some pics posted later today.

Thanks,

What charter did you fish with?

We fished on the Grand Illusion with Haasch Guide Service. There was no real pattern that I saw. We caught fish on the riggers, dipsys and lead lines on boards. Also it was a combination of spoons, flies and j plugs.
