Congrats to the winners! Tough break for team 48 who had 5 bass on day 2 that would've put them in 1st or 2nd and didn't weigh because they were 6 minutes late.

How was the field compared to last year? Same or more boats? Number of limits and weights?

This year it took 27 lbs to win. In 2007 the winning bag was 30 lbs.

The guys had pretty tough conditions on the lake during the tournament. The wind was flat out howling, and the guys were piled up in the back channels trying to break the brutal winds, and catch some fish. The river kicked out some big weights with a couple around 16.5lbs. Sounds like the Bass guys were pulling some nice walleyes as is typically the case. I was guiding on day one of the tournament and pulled 3 bass while fishing for walleyes. Go figure. They had a good turnout, and if my memory is correct there were around 65 boats. It is a great thing for the area, and it is a well ran tournament. Next year I suppose I'll have to shine up the Lund Fisherman Magnum or put some flames on the side of it, and start zinging and slinging for the big dollars. LOL! Tough thing about being a guide, and then trying to effectively fish a tournament is that you can go 2 weeks without fishing bass as your out walleye or pike fishing. It is often times a disadvantage for you as you aren't able to search and pinpoint as you would if you focused your energies on smallies. The river really isn't as much of an issue, but pinning down a nice weight on the lake without following them certainly can be more of a challenge. Some of you river boys ought to come put your $$$ wear your mouth is up here. You'd have a great time fishing these waters, and the entertainment is fantastic. It would be a great weekend for the family. Put it on your list.

Soooo... I was just thinking. Yep be prepared! I imagine running a calcutta type format would be illegal somehow, but wouldn't that make for a awesome tournament. We had annuall calcutta events at our local golf club back in the day. The turnouts were unbelievable as everyone had something at stake. Didn't really matter who was the favorite then as people could put there money on those teams. My assumption would be in the day of too much government that this would break tournament rules and regulations for gambling, but wouldn't that be a good time? Trust me turnouts would become over the top with this type of set up. The Calcutta format would be completely seperate from the tournament prizes and standings. Now that would get people fired up!! Put a few of there own dollars into the mix, and nobody would miss the weigh in.
