Three of us headed to Kenora on Sunday, August 17. We fished until Wednesday, August 20. Stayed at Anicinabe campground.
Arrived Sunday night at 6:30PM, on the water by 7PM. Drove out around Manitou Is...hit a small reef and had 6 eaters in the box by 7:45PM. Released a couple more and had a late fish fry at 9PM.
Monday and Tuesday were both similar days: South-east wind, cool AM, warm day, suicidal walleyes. Pick a reef, any reef and they were there from 16-45 f.o.w. We counted "boated fish" after shore lunch. In 1 hour we landed 31 walleye. Fished bottom-bouncers with 2-hook spinners with 1/2 a crawler. Places we tried: Manitou Is, Lemon Is, Devli's Elbow, Oliver Is and reefs South and East of the Is.
Wednesday had stronger wind but still good fishing. Ate shore lunch and brought a few eaters home. Biggest fish was 24", but the action gave you a biceps workout.
I tried to attach a few picts. A return trip is already planned.

I just returned from Sioux Narrows with my 8yr.old son.We fished 15th thru 21st. Lots of eyes anywhere from 30-100 a day and some "clean" jumbo perch up to 13"!! Some buds stayed with us and took around 30 jumbos home with them on Tues.Eyes not much for size and anywhere from 18-28' was the ticket. Every reef seemed to have active fish and not too deep. Water temp was approx. 71.5 the whole week. We fished mainly 1-4 miles W of Yellow Girl and did some scouting just S of Whitefish Narrows in WF Bay. It's way clear and we did have a 30" musky following around a 25" northern my son had hooked. It just followed it around for 10 minutes as we were perplexed, it actually seemed to nuzzle the northerns belly!!! After we released the northern the musky came around a couple more times trying to find it, strange!!! Last day w/ the wind we stuck to my former favorite "Long Bay"(only 2 miles from the cabin!), former cause none of my spots have produced all year! Anyways tried some new spots and managed 20 eyes all 17-22". They seem to run larger on this end of the lake. My 8 yr old did great jigging in 20+ mph winds! Trolling just didn't produce much this trip. My biggest surprise was the fish check south of Nestor. 3-5 trips per year for 12 years and the 1st one I've seen on 71N. Hope they ticketed some idoits!! Dennis
