Wissota weekend smallies...

#702321 - 08/24/08 02:08 PM

...and more smallies and more smallies and more smallies!

My Saturday guide trip turned into a smallie fest after we found the walleyes to be, ummm, uncooperative.

Lots of presentations put fish in the boat, including spinnerbaits, skitter props, rat-l-traps, SR5s, and even jig + bait. Fish were primarily shoreline cover related high up in the Chip. Nothing huge but great numbers of 15-16" scrappers.

Water temps in the Chip are mid-upper 70s. Should knock a few degrees off that temp this week after a string of cool nights. That alone should get the eyes going again.

Jason thanks for the report. We fished up stream from you (above Jim Falls) managed a few walleyes on bottom bouncers and spinners tipped with leeches or crawlers. Hope you are correct about the cool nights and the "eyes". They have been slow but the smallies kept us entertained.
