My report

#702629 - 08/25/08 05:34 PM

Just got back from Rainy Lake and let me tell you all that the fishing was nothing short of legendary. The H20 jigs that RD prescribed are the real deal. Got so bored boating walleye that I went shallow and began to jig on the reefs for pike.
Yep as you can imagine everyone through the lip just like the textbook shows you. Words for the wise I was checked twice by the OPP (Ontario Provincial Police). Had all my paperwork in order (remote border crossing permit etc..)and all of the necessary equipment for fishing the Canadian side. Be Aware that booze in the boat in Canada is a BIG NO NO do not even try, just crack a cold one when you are back at the cabin or wherever. I did not even have time to think about beer I was so busy landing fish. Big thank you to RD for keeping all of us up to date with what is happening on the lake. The fish in the photo is 27 inches on the "judge" . Landed her @ 6:45 am in about 11 feet of water on the transition from hard rock bottom to heavy gravel with a bit of clay. My wife was not happy when I got her out of bed to shoot the photo until she saw the size of the fish. Thought it was a Carp that I had snagged when I got her close to the boat.

RD keep up the good work

Great Fish Will!!!

Thanks for giving us the report buddy!!!

Look forward to fishing with you boys in October! We'll tail hook that little guy for big fish that time of year!! LOL!! If the Local CO's are listening... Settle down that is a JOKE. Joke I tell ya!! You can't tail hook 27 inchers How fun is it pitching those jigs whent the big fish are snapping?? Lights out!! Take that! I tell ya always fear the guy with a pocket full of jigs. He'll often be the best walleye angler you'll ever see. Now next spring make the transition to hair jigs in the spring, live bait jigging in the summer, and plastics again in the fall or spring. Especially on waters that turn big walleyes year round on lead heads. I've got a couple other secret color combos that you might want to add to your arsenal!!! Not even sure I want to let the cat out of the bag on them. LOl!!

SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER HAVE SOME OPENINGS SO..... Quit, suspend, pawn off, or take vacation to all jobs as there are BIG fish to be caught. Sell your wife on the fact that SOMEBODY has to put some Freaking MEAT on the table as winter is just around the corner, and your taking it upon YOURSELF to do the deed. IF that doesn't work take her along. Second honeymoon????? Renew your VOWS??? Whatever you can think of. You really don't want to remember this fall by "Hey remember the fall of 2008 when we heard about all the big fish Rainydaze was catching??" Not that great of a memory so.... Yep LETS ROLL! Grab your lucky rod and your camera and head NORTH!
