Fishing on delavan has bee asweome for the past few weeks. Lots and lots of big largies! This lake is managed very well with a 1 fish (18 inch minimum) bag limit. In my opinion it's the best largemouth bass lake in our state yeilding both godd number of fish and many big fish. Summer pattern does vary a bit from days to day but drop shotting 4-5 inch finese worms has been the ticket for most of my clients. both mornings and evenings have been good for topwater action with chug bugs, Pop r's and and buzz baits. When the bite has gotten tough we've been flipping and pitching 1/2 to 3/4 ounce Rock stalker jigs in the weeds with good success. This lake has a tremdous amount of schooling big fish so if you find on usually there a few more near by. the crank bait bite has been good as well but there is still tons of floating weeds from boat traffics which can make it tough some days to fish. best depth are the 12-16 foot depths. Pike action is also great on Delavan. Spped trolling wire with cranks, sppon plugs, or live bait in the 20-30 ffot depths is working well.
