I used the 3" minnow grubs with good success early this season up on Wissota. Eyes and slabs. Haven't had the same success since mid-June, but will pull them back into the rotation as the water starts to cool.
Its pretty pricey stuff and I want to know if its worth the $$$$, if I could use this instead of minnows this fall it could be worth the cash.....Thanks for the input guys! Hey Jason on a slightly different subject I checked out that boat this morning and I was wondering if you were busy this Wednesday

My experience has been the black smelt in the alive is a nice cold water alternative. Personally I haven't found equal results to live bait during the summer months. I would venture to say the less pressure your waters are receiving the more effective a imitating bait will be when it comes to the heat of summer. Look for the Alive to become just that as the water cools. I am going to be placing some emphasis on Ringworms in natural colors as well as big grubs and paddletails this fall. I feel the versatility along with availablity of size and variable action will prove to be very effective when chasing fall fish. For those of us whom like casting to pods of fish this is going to be very effective.

I had 50/50 feedback this spring.I think when the fish are really on the chew however a angler has several options. One downside is that it does freeze if you are fishing cold weather so one needs to deal with that.
Bass customers reported thumbs-up on the leeches.
Mr Daze & myself ran out of livebait on Rainy recently,so out came the gulp.Pretty disapointing results for us.Like everything though,I am sure it has its day!

When I was up on Rainy last month, I did better with gulp than live. I've also fished side by side with a buddy, one using live one using gulp. I haven't been able to figure it out, one time out we do great with one, the next time out it's the other. Make sure you rinse your fingers off when using the gulp, not sure what's in there but it takes skin off after a while! The smaller silver/black minnows is what we normally try.
Quote: Dean, can you lend any truth to the rumor going around that you will be selling Ringworms and Ktails soaked in Evert's coffee this Winter and Spring?
Coffee would be a huge up-grade vs the gulp juice, man that stuff is awfull.

If it keeps my rod tips from freezing up, I will pay extra. That Everts coffee has burned my insides for a week, and I don't mean the top half

I have given the Emerald Minnows a good try this June on LBDN... They worked, but no better than BFT plastics. The downside is they are much softer and do not hold up as well as BFT Plastics, or others... That prices them out of my preference for Guiding or personal fishing.
I have used it quite a bit, minnows leaches, shads, and also recharged other gulp baits, worms, twister tails ect..
It works well but if you leafe them out of the jug or water for more than a few minutes they do get VERY hard. after an hour or 2 out of the water they are like concrete and impossible to remove from the hook. Yes you can resoak them and they become somewhat pliable again, but it is a real PITA they really need to find a way to fix this..
I have real good luck with the leeches and nightcrawlers in Lakecity. I find it is cheaper that live bait. At first I was thinking $20 for bait but it has lasted me this whole summer.
