Optimax 225 problem

#704056 - 08/31/08 06:02 PM

I have a 2003 Merc Optimax 225hp, my boat has the smart gauges and everytime I use the tilt and trim I get the battery alarm going off (full throttle only). I have a brand new alternator and a brand new battery but something is causing a big drain? Anyone experienced this before? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Doub;e and tripple check your battery connections. Do not use wing nuts use staianless nuts and make sure all is clean and tight. Lsrgest wire first.

I have stainless wing nuts, I have tried everything with the batteries. All leads clean and solid. I seems to be holding its charge but not comfortable only seeing 11.4 - 11.7 volts with it running.

Did post and got almost immediate response. Hope to get this solved for small tourneys this weekend. Thanks for the lead.
