Shook wind and crowd, but not this monster!!!!

#704139 - 09/01/08 03:23 PM

Sometimes Ma Nature deals a windy hand. Sometimes boat traffic drives fish into different locations, and sometimes you play your cards right and get on them Big Girls with not a boat in sight. Had a half day Labor day trip this morning, and highlighted the trip with this hefty 10lb Rainy Lake Monster. Big females are making a push to Fall haunts, and although aren't yet in typical Fall locations their on there way. Getting yourself on the right highway will produce lots of big walleyes. The fish are going strong with lots of bruisers starting to show themselves. This fish was turned on a 3/16 gold sparkle H20. And it gets better and better!!! Without ANY HESITATION if your hunting for BIG GIRLS than this is the time to go!!! From now until I'm stalking big whitetails you can bet the big White tips will be getting lots of attention by the Rainydaze clients. Get yourself on top of the balls of ciscoes, and tie yourself in!

As you well know catching big walleyes never gets old. The big walleyes almost always give the slow heavy pulls, and then almost stopping on the bottom as if stubbornly telling you that they aren't coming up. I looked over at my guide customer seconds after I hooked this fish that the is going to be a BIG GIRL!! He asked "PIKE?" I said NOPE this is a big walleye. Long head shakes, and slow heavy pulls. Nice way to kick off September. The big fish are really starting to get juiced.

Congrads. on beauty. Looks like one happy client you have there. We will be up next week to chase a few of those around. Had one last year 9.5lbs, took some nice pixs and let her go, then had one pix blown up to a 8x10 that looks real good.Hopefully she is still out there.. How much do you think she would weigh this year?

Hi Rogan,

Hard to say. That is a nice fish, and if still swimming may very well break 10lbs now. The fish are really looking healthy the past few years. I expect to see some hefty weights this fall.

Only 28 1/4!! I figure if if would have went 31 it would have gone 13lbs plus. Bigger fish starting to show themselves with more regularitiy. Couple fish topping 27 and then this 28 1/4 in the past week. All fish have been very girthy fish. Obviously knocking down the high protein diet of ciscoes and smelt with reckless abandon. All these fish are in American waters. In fact the last fish was in pretty close proximity to the Daze Compound.... NOPE NOT T..... BAY EITHER!!! LOL!
