Quick trip on the backyard gem tonight with bigpike and Mrs. bigpike, doing a bit of fishing and test driving a Skeeter 1790-T from Skeeter Boat Center.
Water temps high up the Chip were 73....warmer towards the lake. The same successful recipe that I've been talking about since early August remains in play in the Chippewa River above the lake: jigs and crawler halves when the river is running, cranks when the river is not.
We only spent a couple of hours on the water, but were able to put 6 or 7 walleyes and a pair of smallies in the boat. Not bad considering our limited time and the big weather change yesterday. The biggest walleye flirted with 18" and was a very well fed fish. In fact, several of our fish were looking like they had one too many servings at the dinner table lately. Could the fall feed be upon us?

Great report Jason, if I wasn't so busy at work. I'd get out there & do a little fishing. How'd skeeter handle?

I'm not a tiller guy....but having said that, I really liked this boat!
Plenty of room for 3 anglers....a fourth could be easily accommodated as well. The front deck is just expansive.
Top end with 3 people and more than a half tank of gas was 35 (GPS). Trolled down to 2.0 at idle. All that from a 75 yammie 4s tiller! Popped up on plane easily and handled waves without any difficulty or dampness.
It also loaded, unloaded, and trailered perfectly.
This is a NICE combo!

The walleye bight has been unreal all summer long! Lately the walleyes been slammin on a jig and a minnow. It's been an early morning bight for me the past few trips out. Hey Jason I guess my gf has you as a Chemistry teacher right now. She came home all excited because your a guide on Wissota and her family has two cabins on the lake. That's pretty neat.

Thank You again Jason for taking the time to take us out, not just trying out the boat but also taking us fishing, that was very cool! That is a great progam, to be able to get out in a boat and test drive/fish. Thank You AGAIN, PS I reminded the better half on the way home, not only did she catch the most fish, she caught the biggest fish also! She was pretty pleased.

Tim, Skeeter Boat Center (link at left) offers test drives in any of their line of in-stock Skeeter walleye and bass boats. I am one of the guys doing walleye boat test drives, and I have a hard time leaving the rods at home. My test drives have a tendency to evolve into evening fishing trips.
