Do's and Don'ts of the Rum

#705874 - 09/08/08 04:46 PM

Well this post is more the do not's.

Went out last night at 6pm and got on the rum in st. Francis. Don't do the rum at night when its 50 degrees out! Fished for about 1 hour then used the trolling motor as fast as we could to get to the end (hwy 22). Took 5 hours total and was a cold cold ride. 2 fish were caught! Blah!

So word to the wise. When its getting cooler out, don't go out on the rum in sandals, your feet will freeze!

O by the way that was trip #7 on the rum this year with trip number 8 being followed up this Sunday (during the day!).

Ron? Are you whistling that you want to go? Or are you whistling in agreement?

I don't fish the Rum anymore; but I used to just pound the Princeton to Cambridge stretch. I no longer have the boat for it. But I do have some shore spots that can be good (provivding you can still access them) Maybe we should do a pheasant/walleye combo trip some time this fall sir!

Combo trip
I'm in as long as it is not -17 below.

I love the Rum in the fall, minutes from my house and full of smallies.

We'll see what we can work out. You go for smallies and I'll go for wallies. And we'll catch nothing but northerns. No chance of falling through any ice!

From the dam to the Mississippi then. I have seen people fishing where the rum pours out into the mississippi. Thats about it. I have tried numerous places there and have not got anything.
