Wissota update, 9.21.08

Well, other than our tiger musky encounter, it was a pretty slow weekend on the backyard gem. Water temps still hovering around 70, even ticking above in spots. We need a week of clouds, wind and rain to get things moving in the right direction....but that won't happen this week.

Best thing I have going for walleyes right now is cranks on lead in the main lake. Check the main lake points, 20-25', and get those cranks down there. I've had my best luck recently in cleaner water, so play the wind and stay away from the green. I've been having trouble lately cracking 16", and there are more 10-12" fish around than you can shake a 14-foot Jason Mitchell leadcore rod at.

Smallies are available in the Chip. Mid-depth rocks with light jigs and crawlers are getting some attention.

I saw some familiar trucks at the ramp over the weekend....hope some of you guys are having some luck!

We had about the same luck Jason. We managed a few for the pan along with 3 in the slot and a bunch of 10" fish. Dad did manage a really nice 12 lb channel. We have found a few areas that are just stacked with fish in 24-27 feet of water. It sure would have been nice to have a little wind on Saterday. Bring on the cooler weather!!

We've probably been looking at some of the same deep fish. Makes the locator look like it's in demo mode!

We probably are looking at the same areas. I never thought about it, but it sure does look like demo mode. I just upgraded from a 520 to a 37c and it looks awesome with all of those arcs down there!!

Nice reports for the last few weeks!! Keep them coming. I am glad that the fall cool down is taking a little time to get here as the last month and a half has not provided much water time for me. However, there is light at the end of the tunnel so the reports are appreciated.
