Green Bay, Little Sturgeon Bay or Big Sturgeon Bay

#709332 - 09/22/08 11:12 AM

Anyone been out around Dyksville or Little Sturgeon Bay or in this area fishing. I haven't tried it yet but plan too in the near future. We just bought a camper and it is setup over at Big Lake Campground in Algoma. Interested in Walleye or whatever else is bitting.

Fished that area the middle of August out of Sand Bay. Struggled to find the perch but got a couple meals worth. Lots of gobies. Smallies on the rocks and some big pike made for fun time. But the highlight was trolling eyes at dusk and a couple hours after dark. 3-6 pounders were common. Big cranks in 12-16fow out on the reefs.

I was over there in June with my brother & father for Father's Day. We stayed with Strochien at Sand Bay. We tried to fish down at Dykesville for 'eyes, but the cold front that came through, kept a fairly brisk breeze out of the north and precluded us from fishing the south shore of GB.

We fished the bays for smallies and had a good time. The same time Gillespie was with Larry Smith on the other side of the bay and caught walleyes in the weeds on crawler harnesses and then even took the time to drift the same beds with cranks casting and continued to catch the 'eyes.

We opted for one of the bays on the other side of the thumb for smallies rather than fight the wind.
