Algoma 9/20

#709392 - 09/22/08 02:29 PM

Fishing was good when wind was down. Managed 8 kings and 1 brown. Most caught Sat morning. Walleye boat and bass rods. #14 test. No special gear. Long lining with deep diving lures. Mostly shad raps and tail dancers. Extremely fun.

I may have to change my trip this weekend from the chippewa flowage to kewaunee. It's always a great time over on the BIG lake.

How deep was the water where you were fishing. It doesn't look like you were out too far? I didn't even launch the boat that day because the Wet the Whistle Wine Festival and I had to WET my Whistle. HA HA It looked fairly calm Saturday am but a little more choppy Saturday evening.

20-30 feet. Yes Sat morning was the time. When the system came through and wind came out of north fairly strong everything shut down right through Sun morning when we left. Yea, we ran into some of those wine festival people at the motel. Oh boy..

I hear these fish can hit pretty hard. Even hard enough to pop a rod out of the holder?

It was not my fault. I didnt set that rod up. I only witnessed it leaving the launcher..

You telling me I have a chance to catch a rod this weekend. I wonder how many rods and other tackle are on the bottom over there. It would be interesting to drift around with an underwater camera and see what you can spot. Hopefully the fish will still be biting.

Screw the rod. It's my buddys. I'm bummed about the brand new purple taildancer I supplied that only saw 5 minutes of fishing!
