WOW !!!!! Is all you can say when you first put this new St Croix Legend Xtreme in your hands. This 7ft model weighs in at 3.0 oz.The combo shown here has a 7.2 oz Plueger Supreme MGX. By putting together ART,IPC,Recoil titanium guides with a formula of carbon matte scrim,SCV,and SCVI graphite. The end result is simply the lightest most sensitive rod that St Croix has ever built and even gets the attention of the most diehard brand X loyal users!
The titanium guides do a few things for the overall performance of the rod besides durabilty and weight.Just some of the benefits include increased casting distance,I am guessing approx 20 %.The actual action becomes just a bit faster using the lighter weight guides.I am anticipating the guides will also be a bit more friendly in dealing with ice build up that us cold open water fisherman deal with as well.Obviously, the Recil guides will be a huge benefit in regards to unforgiving boat cleats and rod locker mishaps.
This is the first of the new models to become available and the rest of the offerings are due in shortly. As always, they are available to demo and experience for your self, the finest rod I have EVER had in my hands! I think when you put it in your hands, you more than likely will agree!

I handled one of these over the weekend (I think the one pictured) and it had an incredible feel to it. It was so light it was like holding a feather and the balance with the reel was perfect. The guides can really take some punishment and pop back into place too. In my boat that would be a great feature. I was afraid to ask the price but I know Dean and my wife had some kind of coded communication going on and the last time that happened I ended up with a couple blue St. Croix rods for Fathers Day. I hope if I am a good boy that Santa will come visit
I spend more of my boat time with a 7-7.5 foot rod than with any other. The fast action which allows me to detect those very light biters before they feel me is a real asset to my style of finesse fishing. Thanks for bringing these rods to our attention Dean...now I only wish my rod locker had more than 12 slots.
Nothing gets me more excited than a "Latest and Greatest" from St.Croix Rods. I think a 6 6' in a med lite flex sounds pretty darn good for Daze!! Not sure if it is even fair??? Might be cited under a fair chase regulation or something... Hmnnn!! How many guide trips are one of these bad boys gonna cost me Dean?? If you say it is the best you've laid your hands on then I suppose I'm gonna have to have one!!

Nice looking stick there. I currently use the G Loomis Walleye Series GLX- it's a 6'2" rod and it has the same guides on it. I do find them light and you did mention that it would help reduce ice build up, but when you take them out in February, let me know if the guides lose there recoil. Mine did- in fact I thought that my rod was broke, but what actually happens is when the guides bend, they don't spring back in the extreme cold. That was one thing that I noticed about those types of guids- whatever brand it may be. If you don't find that problem with Croix, I might have to jump the fence and give one a try.
Chris, shame on me for not mentioning that the new XTremes are offering new action choices as well.I think the new 6'9" MLXF might just bring new meaning to the word "Smack" for the Daze guide service!

Rod Socks double them up lots of people do it (I haven't tried it yet), not that I could afford 12 or more of these
