The walleye sauger bite has just been plain slow. Recent water temps near 70 are finally turning towards the right direction this week and we are starting to see a handfull of walleyes and saugers responding accordingly.
For the handfull of faithfull river fisherman out as of late ,they are seeing a wide variety of species coming to the boat. This 34 plus pound flathead is an example of what some of the guys are experiencing here on pool 4.Congrats Jessie on a PB Catfish and a PB Everts Pin for releasing it! Thanks!
Finesse livebait rigs as simple as a hook and splitshot with a minnow have been as good of luck for anglers as any.A few reports of dark colored bucktails have had their moments as well.Sometimes, just keeping it simple is a wise choice. The plastic bite is just around the corner and I suggest you get the Paddletails out & ready and give them a shot as well!
When will the "bite" start? As soon as mother nature gets the water temps heading downward. As of writing this we are heading the right direction with water temps in the mid 60 range and the bite will respond accordingly!Let the countdown begin!
Hope to see everyone at Saugeramma Sat Oct 18th!

This is the calm before the storm guys. When I let the dog out this morning, it was the first time this fall that a wall of cold air greeted me. Canada has finally sprung a leak, and fall temps are on the way. October has become my transition month...a time during which I transition from the summer hunting grounds (Wissota) to the winter wonderland of Pool 4, with a couple of stops at Mille Lacs for good measure. It won't be long until I start seeing all of my river rat friends at Everts again on a weekly basis....in fact, it can't happen soon enough!
I can't wait much longer Dean! I think I better go looking for them this weekend but the ducks are calling my name to...and the deer....oh lord it is OCTOBER
