If you all remember this is on the same street where the old bait shop was behind the shell station. EZ if your coming in from 106 just take a left on main st in Fort go across the bridge and through two stop and go lights then where the road V's at the citgo gas station stay to the left on whitwater ave. The go about 3 or 4 blocks until you see Rockwell ave on the right then turn and half way down on the right the bait shop should be there by Dunsmon doors. Once you get on Rockwell ave you can't miss it. Good luck. I did make it out for about two hours with nothing not even a bite, well I did have something bite my ringworm tail off. I did talk to two guys and actually saw them catch two keeps by the power line, well where the power lines were. The said they caught them on crawlers dragging 1/8oz gum ball jigs. The wind was blowing them up current.
Water Temp 59
Oh yeah the two guys in the boat with the two keeps which I bet they caught more. They said they have learned everthing about the rock because of this thread and the IDO ROCK RIVER gang. Awesome job gang. I told them if they would register and post we would telll them more secrets

Thanks for the pics, Jeff. Went solo friday afternoon, fishing from about noon till dark. bites were sporadic, and no honey-hole to speak of. Total of 8 eyes boated included these two at 19 and 20 inches, plus a few dinks. Leeches and plastic both brought fish to the boat, including a few white bass, and a crappie that inhaled a paddletail. Water temps at 58 degrees.
Good to meet you guys, Denny and WeFish.
On a sad note, I came upon that 3-car ccident on CI, just east of hwy 106 trailering home last night, and made the 911 call. Me and another fella were the first to the scene, about 5 minutes before police, etc. arrived. Two died in this accident, apparently on the spot. Counted my blessings...was probably only a minute or two behind the collision. My prayers go out to the families.

Sure can tell it was a Monday Hwy 26 parking lot boat launch was wide open. Was on the water by 7:30am water temp 55 degrees. Headed down to the mouth starting using live bait nothing but short ones and all I saw caught were short ones from shore or by boats. Went back up river around mid morning and switching over to Berkley Gulp 4" Black Shad and a Zone R Green Chartreuse By Fin-tech, and ended up catching these beauties a 22 1/2" and 20 1/4". Guys all I can say is I have put more fish in the boat this fall using plastics maybe its just luck or just what the fish want, you tell me. Second picture is what I found in the stomach in the larger eye. WeFish

Nice eyes, Andy. Plastics have been the bait of choice for me for the fall bite on the Rock. I'll typically jig one with live bait, and the other with plastics, and almost always catch more fish on the plastic, and on some days use two with plastic . Have noticed this to be true at the Dells too for a couple fall trips I made there in previous years. Over the next few weeks, you should start seeing frogs in their bellies...happens every year. A paddle tail with some green is my choice of bait, although last Friday I only got a couple dinks and a crappie with it before losing it to a stump. See you out there one of these days again.

Well, made it out from noon or so, till 6 pm, but no limits on this day. Picked up a 23 incher on the first drift at the mouth in 7 fow, and a few dinks before boating a 17 inch saugernear the boat hazard rock pile. that was it for legals....also got about 10 dinks, 8 to 12 inches, several white bass, and two big carp, one that sucked the leech in, and one that sucked a paddletail in. Leeches and plastic both got fish today. Saw a number of fish caught throughout the day. Jeff....saw the two dinks you got right away...anything else after I split to go up-river?

Good job Denny. I was out from 7-10 AM on Saturday morning with my buddy from work and we didn't get a bite. We only saw one nice fish and a few short ones caught down by the mouth otherwise not much going on early. In fact, it was bad enough that we're taking part of the day on Monday and going bass fishing in Madison just to feel a pull on the line again. May next time!

Good to you also Denny, glad you got some fish for a meal. I only got that one keeper and two shorts. I did get eight 12" crappies and two bluegills to add to my one keeper. Fishing is slow, we really need the water temp to drop, 64 is a little to high to catch limits unless you fish at night.

Bass fishing wasn't any better. But get this, I quit early and go down to the river in time to see Andy leaving for the day and tried a little shore fishing in one of my favorite hard bottom spots. I fished from 2:30-3:30 PM and caught a carp, 2 short walleyes, and lost a couple more including one that was about 17". Lindy 1/4 oz. Citrus Max Gap jig w/ 3 3/4" chartruese Lindy thumper grub. I also hooked into something huge and could hardly budge it until it swam a little. The second time it moved it got off right away so I never saw what it was.

Believe it or not sometimes this time of year shore fishing always out produces boats. Connor's has been fishing the last three weeks from shore at a friends house which has a big drain pipe there and has called me everytime he goes and always catches at least one nice keeper and a few shorts and Connor's only 14 and half the time there screwing around. Just think about it if a serious angler went there and fished what would he catch
How did Andy do Tuesday?
The next four days I'll be hunting in the morning and fishing in the afternoon. Sure would be nice if I could get a nap in between

A good day on the water today. Was hosted by my buddy again in his boat, and we pecked away one short of a two-man limit, but had that one in the boat for a pic, and back in the river....a nice 26 incher. Lost two legals at the boat too. The rest were 16 to 18 inches. Also got about 15 or so dinks in the mix. Most of our legals including Big Moe came from the party shack to just down from the old power lines. Plastic was off to a slow start in the morning, but by mid-afternoon closed the gap on fish. got a couple on kelly green hair jigs, and some on small flourescent hair jig tipped with crawler piece. Not a single hit on leeches, and didn't have any fatheads in the boat today. And then there was the usual big carp...got three of those today, with one probably topping 20 lbs. Yum. No goats, and no white bass. Not too many boats out today, I'd guess only about 12. Water temp was at 54 degrees. Just cleaned the fish, and no frogs in the bellies yet, so the best for plastics is yet to come. Will get the pics on in the next couple days. good fishing to those of you heading out tomorrow.

Nice eyes, Denny. We had our fish fry Saturday, from friday's catch. Here's a few pics from last two outings.First the 26 incher from Friday....had to disguise the background to protect the location . then a shot of a nice 18 inch eater, same day, later in the afternoon, during intermittnet showers....good thing my buddy had extra rain gear on board, as all my stuff was tucked away in my boat....gotta love them Frogg Toggs! and then a shot of a 20 incher or so from previous Friday solo outing. Hoping to get out some afternoon this week, but not sure when yet..... septic leach field took a dump couple weeks ago, and having it replaced this week , so need to stick around for that work if they start. Good fishin' to all! (last shot...perc tests from last week)
