Crappie

#712760 - 10/07/08 05:43 PM

Pete has the crappies dialed in! I seen it first hand. Got out on the local pond for some action over the weekend. The eyes bite is a little slow right now, I think we ended up with 8 or so for the day. The good news is, the crappies are hanging close to the walleye haunts. We caught fish from 8 to 18ft so find areas that drop quick into deep water. Orange jigs tipped with either fats or crappie minnows produced all day. The crappie bite really helps bide the time until the eyes go on a major feed.
Pete will post and give you some detail on his jigging method. Its hot and is working like magic!

Haha, Thanks Don, It was fun getting out on the water over the weekend, thanks again

I wouldn't go as far to say that it's magic to catch those crappies and I herd from Woody he's doing alright too

Honestly I think it's right place and time. I have caught many more crappies this fall than last fishing the same areas with the same techniques. Like Don said, anywhere with steep drops seems to hold them. If I catch 1 crappie, I work that area well over and normally find a slough of em'

I'll probably sneak on the water today after work & class, hopefully a few pictures to follow...
