I was wondering if the current rainy weather will have a huge impact on the yellows at Clear. I am hoping to get my first open water trip to Clear on Thursday---wondering what to expect.
Was up there 2 weekends ago. The yellows were biting. All caught around the reef just north of the island. Using slip bobber with minnow. Caught around 60 of them between me and the wife. The rain shouldn't affect them. Just look where all the boats are at to find the yellows

I fished there 3 times over the last 2 weeks, once in a boat, once off a dock and once off shore after we took out the dock. Two of us caught about 60 yellows, 2 whites, and 2 walleyes from the boat while drifting with 35 other boats. Four days later I caught 47 yellows and 2 whites off the dock. The average size was better off the dock - I kept 12 of the yellows (the basket was full enough so I quit keeping them) from 10" - 12" and 2 14-15" whites. I casted a drop shot rig with 2 jigs about 8" and 18" above the weight. Worms, and minnows worked on the jigs but a piece of cut bait worked the best. Be sure to tie the jigs on with open loop knots so they hang horizontal at slow speeds. Don't be afraid to fish in shallower water - the dock was in 3' of water and had a very slow drop out in front.
