Or is it the new Cat Gear that's the Walleye's meow?
First off, I wasn't a believer in fish holders/grips for cats. Didn't like them. The were too expensive but more importantly, not made with the fish in mind. It seemed to me that the very narrow "clamp" would put too much pressure on the jaw of the fish. Even when supporting them in the lower belly area with the other hand.
When I was in TX, the guides we used had this yellow plastic thing that opened my eyes. We used two of them to hold and manage a 72 pound Blue.
This is a "must have" for the Flathead/Channel guy.
When I land a smaller size flat and place my hand in it's mouth, the darn thing kicks a couple times and there goes the fingers. All scraped up. With larger flats...it's a toss up to use the Fish Grips or your hand.. unless your fishing with someone that doesn't like to place there fingers in the mouth of a fish.
Now for channels...we all know what they can do to a finger. These grips will not only hold the channels mouth open to help you get the hook out, but help control the fish while in the boat! The gripper part is designed perfectly to the mouth of a flat or channel.
These grips float, which comes in very handy if your fishing with Pug. They have a lanyard to fit around your wrist and a hole in the handle to insert your scale to weigh your catch.
Did I mention they are affordable??
I have a prediction. These grips will be as standard in every catfisherman's boat as bullheads are now by next spring!
Oh! Almost forgot about the walleye dudes! For ice fishing or fishing the river in cold weather do your gloves get wet? Hands get cold from handling a walleye/sauger??
I was showing them to a die hard walleye guy today. He hates handling cats. The Fish Grips will clamp on to a cat next to the boat and the hook can be removed with the other hand without the "slimy little critter" ever getting close to your carpeting.
These Fish Grips are your answer!
Dean only has 1 or 2 left but he's going to be ordering a couple dozen more on Monday.
Might want to have two in the boat if your planning on catching fish over 70 pounds.

Yup! Bob has them at Moore's Got one early this spring. The girlfriend loves it for every fish.

sounds like it could save me a few trips to the back of the boat when the wife catch's anything. kinda hard to see how they work with those nice fish in the way. do they have a web site to check out?
They work the same as a vice grips. Just clamp it on the lower lip.
