Mille Lacs Bass reports?

#714126 - 10/14/08 08:41 AM

Dave Koonce and I are headed to Mille Lacs on Thursday to chase some late season Smallies(and maybe a Walleye or two).

Anyone have a report to share? I'm hoping to hear a great report so Dave doesn't have to haul all his Walleye gear up there.

Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure the Smallmouth Bass season is closed.

Not from what I read in the regs.

I forgot to mention I was out two weeks ago and we caught 6 of them rigging for eyes in 16-18 fow on Lakeside reef. There also happened to be a few 14-17 inch slots along with a couple jumbos.

You can fish for Smallies now, and I annually fish a certain part of the Mississippi in January, yes January LEGALLY, and you can fish for them up until then also, the key is that after September 1st, or 6th or whatever it is, it is catch and release only. After Feb. 29th it is closed until Memorial Weekend which is Bass Opener! Why would anyone ever keep a smallmouth anyway!
FYI, I know of a spot where you can only walk the shorelines of a certain body of water where the best fishing of the year is in November!!! And yes it is legal and open. It is funny how so many people who should be able to let anyone who is wondering the regulations know, is uncertain themselves
Anyway, get em back in the water right away, they are hungry right now.

And I once had respect for you

Blue, go and show Koonce why we fish for them.
The bite should be good but you might need to search harder than normal for them.

Good Luck guys
