How'd it go for 2008?

#719733 - 11/10/08 12:40 AM

I've had a career change and just got a slap in the face regarding how little I've been able to get online and look thru the forums.

Dan(Or).... if you're out there man I'm wondering how this past year has been? I can't believe it's been over a year since I last asked!!! Last post in this forum is Dec. '07 so maybe you're feeling forgotten? Not so....not so at all! I know we've never met but you're like an old friend and I still dream of one day making it out to the mighty Columbia River and catching some of those hawgs! Hope to hear something from you.....if you're still checking in..... would love to know how your year has been!

... not well! In fact the slowest year for big fish in the fall or number of fish either eaters or trophies. We talked with a couple of guides and they are turning down trips... can't find fish.

We managed a few eaters and 5 fish over 10 lbs over the last month. Very frustrating fall. I could go into a lot of excuses.. but we couldn't get them to bite! Schooled, we were!

Fish in the picture 11.7 lbs and 30"...

Sturgeon are incidental catch for me.....on spinners with crawlers mostly but occasionally on plugs. I don't keep them. You really don't know what size they will be ... anywhere from 2' to 12' ... the big ones are a whole bunch of work!
