WX2100 rod storage

#794401 - 06/15/09 04:03 AM

Anyone have a way to store rods in the bow compartment to avoid all the tangeling? Thanks in advance, Brent

Rod Socks.

They're cheap and they protect the blanks from scratches and dings while completely solving issues with tangling.

Rod tubes, in my opinion,.... blow. I'm not sure how else to put it. They take up an enormous amount of space and limit the total number of rods that can be stored in a locker.

Use the rod socks and you'll be able to put twice as many rods in a center rod storage compartment as you would if you had tubes.

Did I say they were cheap?

I use socks to keep the rods separated in my 1880, which has a smaller locker than the 2100.

Last time I loaded up for an FLW event, I put 10 rods (in socks) in there. The only ones that I didn't put in there were my 10'6" Wild Rivers.

No tubes = no bent or busted rod guides that invariably catch the open ends of the tubes.

I'm confident you'll like them. I keep my high end rods in socks all the time, in the boat and out. I'll have to do a test to see how many rods I can get in a 1950 Skeeter locker one of these days. I'm confident I could safely store 15+ rods.

You can usually fit 2 in each with ease.
For $2.97 at Walmart you can get 6 velcro straps with a slot on one end. You wrap it around your rods tips and butts, and it holds two rods together and keeps them from tangling. I also do this with rods that break down.

I prefer the drift control sox. They are more length precific and if you buy the right ones they will wrap around the handle also. I had the bass pro ones but the elastic would always stretch out. I also store mine out of the boat in them.

+1 on the drift controls, they come in different lengths as well. The only thing I don't like is when I get my cranks tangled in them.
