The weather was hot and so was the fishing. The boy and I hit the water about 6:30 out of Hoksila this morning. Been quite awhile since I've been fishing. I figured with my surgery on Wed if I don't live thru it at least I will have a fishing memory. LOL Trolled with raps only longlining anywhere from 90 to 130 feet back. Worked the MN side up from Old Frontenac and around the corner 2/3 of the way to the cans at the head of the lake. Only had a few short sauger and some white bass to show for it. Started working cross country toward the Rush river outlet and the red can towards Maiden Rock. Boy caught and released his PB of 26.5" just shy of 6# and I had two 24" and a 23" in the next 20 minutes. He caught up with another 23" and finally we got a 17" eater. From 8 until noon we caught and released about 15 short eyes and sauger and add in another half dozen whiteys. We put 3 more 17" keepers in the box and decided we were hot enough to come home. Speeds were around 2. 7 to 3.2 on the GPS. A great way to spend a day with your son and realize how good life is. Not sure when the next time I pick up a rod will be. Recovery on this arm surgery could be many months. My advice....Get out and enjoy while you can.

Couple pics: My son Tom with his PB 26.5 and me with a 24" I had a hard time unhooking and holding fish with my bum left hand. Glad to have a helper.
Dean: We were going to come visit today but I didn't want to donate a prop to the back channel and figured we might melt going thru the no wake. May need to make a trip with the arm in the sling via truck.

We went out yesterday in the same general area, alot of small fish but only 2 over the 20in mark. Man did it get hot when that sun burnt the clouds away.
