I'm headed to the in-laws for the weekend. Taking the boat for both family and fishing purposes... I'm hoping to get out after some of those farm country walleyes I have been hearing about.
I was hoping I could get a few tips and pieces of advice from guys that fish down there or who fish those types of lakes. I looking at the Fairmont area. I'm not looking to get any locations, hotspots, nor even specific lakes... But I would like to get a general idea of where to start, presentation-wise.
How is the crankbait bite going down there? Or would I be better served rigging or jigging? Maybe bottom bouncing? Slip bobbering? Should I start with weededges, or might the basin hold a few fish this time of year? I'll be prepared for just about anything, but I am hoping to limit as much wasted time as possible since fishing time will be at a premium (VS family activities). Is there a solid day bite, or is it more dawn/dusk?
I have a few ideas, but certainly wouldn't turn down a little help. Much appreciated!!
(I posted this in the general discussion forum to (hopefully) get a little more exposure and possibly a few more replies before my trip this weekend - hope thats ok..)
Thanks,
Mike
