Has anyone changed the plastic console tops on your PROV IFS because of cracks in the originals? Both of them are cracked on my 1800 and I'm concerned that water will cause damage when it seeps through them. I also have a concern that when or if I do change them, will the new one's just crack again because there is an underlying problem that needs to be addressed also. Any thoughts or advice will be greatly appreciated.

If it happened once it will happen again shortly after you replace them. It will be an ongoing issue if they have cracked once. It is a time consuming process to say the least.
If it was me,I would mix up some clear 5 min epoxy that is made for plastic. Lightly coat the whole crack and leave it at that.

If you have never replaced a console cap, you might want to rethink this. They are not very easy to replace at all. You might want to take it to your dealer and pay them to replace it. This way if they make a mistake they have to cover it. I would also talk with the dealer to see if Lund will warranty it, it is possible they might.

Thanks rigging guy, I will take your advice I agree it looks like a nasty job especially if you have no experience doing it. I hope you are right and that Lund will cover the cost but since I purchased the boat used from a private party I wonder.

It is worth a try. Lund would just turn around and get warranty from the manufacturer of the cap. If for some reason Lund does not want to cover it and you still would like to change the cap you can Pm me and I will email you a person's phone number that used to work for Lund and now fixes boats in his own shop in New York Mills. He does a excellent job. The nicest thing about him is he uses all factory Lund parts.

I did check with the local Lund dealer about changing the console caps out and found out it was a 10 to 12 hour job for them at $80.00 per and that they didn't think Lund would cover the labor. The guy in the shop also told me that other than the aesthetics there is no functional reason to change them out and that they may crack again, as he said it's a bad design. So it looks like those of us who have rigs that have cracked caps are going to have to look past them if we don't have the $$$$ to switch them out  .

I have a few cracks in mine on my 1660 Classic. Lund is going to replace them this fall no charge. No problem at all with getting it replaced.
Lund was very easy to work with.

That's great! What year is your 1660? My PROV is a 2004 so maybe I should get in contact with Lund directly  .
