Small Stream Trout Fishing

Biggest brookie to date. Went out with my buddy Andy Kurth yesterday. Had had a banner day fishing hoppers and a lite brite biot nymph dropper. Andy landing his biggest brookie to date on the nymph dropper. All I have of this trout is an action shot. It slipped out of Andy's hand before I could get a glory shot.
Waist deep in cold water The second stream we hit was bigger but not very active for trout.
Red berries Found these berries stream side and don't have a clue what they are?
Bright sun brown I caught the biggest brown of the day. Was amazing how the browns hit on a sunny day. Andy got one double on a hopper/biot rig. Andy landed 40 and followed with 25.

Your reports and photos bring me back to my early years chasing browns in the SE MN streams with my brother. We'd work construction or on my grandpa's farm from sun up to early afternoon and then head for the trout streams. It was a glorious feeling to be 17, in my own, albeit beat up, pickup truck and headed to the little rivers with my kid brother in tow.

No boats, no people... just you and the stream, looks perfect! I've only fly fished in Montana, but this looks like a ton of fun.

Agreed
While I’ve really never seriously gone Fly Fishing, there is something to say about that level of seclusion away from everything; simply sounds awesome!
Thanks for the report Len and great pictures as usual.

I am an avid fly fisher person..lol.. but I tell you what folks...if you love to fish, warm water or cold, you owe it to yourself to pick up a fly rod and give it a shot. Those pics and report just bring home the reason why to do it. It's a great way to spend a day and usually all you hear is the river running by your wader.. .. I was out Monday and caught some nice little smallies on a flyrod... (report to follow soon ).. So get out there and give it a shot..I promise you once you've hooked into your first fish...you'll be hooked as well...
Great report and awesome pics!!

Beautiful pics as usual Len Love the report love what you're doing. Stream Trout fishing is truly the most difficult yet most rewarding fishing imho. Especially on the fly. It takes a special kinda person to still be doing that this time of year with all the elements(skeeters, gnats, spiders, snakes, and worst of all the weeds). Keep the reports and photos coming. I'll be heading out to the V thursday morning. Hopefully fish'll be biting.
