The magical rain

by LenH on 09/22/2009

Head Water
I wander for quite some time. I was about to give up. The stream was really narrow. I decided near the end of the year I wanted to find some head water brookies. I had decided 20 more yards and I was turning back. Then there was the hole. It was leave cover and about 6 feet deep on the edge of a rock bluff.

Young male in spawning
colors
The leaves were hard to get through and it look some time to get a retrieve without a leave attached. I finally decided to let it sink more before the retrieve. it worked well.

nice male brookie
I finally got the trick down. Really slow retrieve with a twitch every so often.

I am battling this little pig and i see what i
think is a brown following it. It keeps following it to
about 10 feet out and then turns. It has a BIG black
spot on the top of its head over its left eye. Heron peck
I bet.

~It wasn't a brown~

21 or so male brookie in full fall spawning colors.
It did not come back.
