Anyone here run a Lund Alaskan? Comments please. Looking at a used one 18 foot side counsel. Looks tough enough for my style of fishing and an inside washable with a pressure washer is a required thing for me. looks narrow though any feelings of too tippy.
What year is the hull ? The reason I ask is the newer hulls have IPS in turn they run drier and have a higher hp rating. I have owned two 18ft Alaskan tillers. These boats are awesome if you don't need a ton of storage. I really miss having one when it comes to shore lunch etc... You can pull it up any where and you won't hurt a thing. The bottom line is you can't go wrong with this boat and resale on these hulls are extremly good. Good Luck !!! Jon
We have a 20' Lund Alaskan up on Washington Island; 80 Miles NE of Green Bay in Lake Michigan.
Pluses: Great utilitly boat, great gas mileage for its size, cheaper / needs lesser engine for it's size
Minuses: The only hesitation I have for it is if you routinely want to take it out on rougher water. We bounce around alot on it out on Lake Michigan Salmon fishing when it's blowing. Heavier boats that are the same dimensions give a smoother ride.
When I lived down by Lake MI. I had an 89 or a 90 18' Alaskan. Awesome boat for the pond. Would laugh at the tuna rigs bobbing side to side on rough days as I had it smoothe and easy. Tough boat for the money back then. I don't know what changes they have made in them. I put my own console in it. Back then, I think they were only rated for 50hp. I had a Mariner 40 Mag on mine and it cruised about upper 30's. Only reason I sold it was my move to a bass boat and I moved away from lake MI

Thanks everyone for you good posts. I am just feeling my way into what I want for a new rig and this one has many of the things I am looking for. The price on the one I was looking at was a little on the high side. I doubt I would do very much Lake Michigan driving. Mendota gets a tad rough once in a while but not that rough.
