I'm with ya Jon....I've got some serious cabin fever lately....but I'm also thinking that if we get some flow back in the river while the temps are droppin that could make for some dynamite fall fishin for big P2 fish.

Monday - Tuesday don't look any better per the forecasts.

So what does all this cloud cover/rain do to the avid full moon fall fishing afficionados that head for Mille Lacs to have a behemoth walleye pull the rod out of their hand in the dark????

Trophy;
It wrecks the whole season!
Because those fish only move into those specific areas when the water is 48 degrees
the month of October
the moon is full
the sky is clear
and between the hours of 8pm to 4am.

Inbetween those times, those fish swim like hell back out to the flats!
Because,
they can't eat there if there isn't:
full moon
clear skies
dark out
warmer water
the other 11 months out of the year
and if there is any remote chance of light from the sun.

It would be nice to have a few stable weather days just to let the lake settle/clean up a bit. The fish will be shallow. More and more will be showing up every night. I'm very glad we decided on next weekend.

Fishing in the wind and rain is probably harder on us than anything. Boat control is much tougher and needs constant attention. When you are cold and wet, it's very easy to lose your focus. I think there will be fish caught this weekend, but look for the more consistent bite to start next week sometime...Post major front.

Good luck to all those that tough it out. Might be a good weekend for a launch trip.

I'm insulating and rocking my garage this weekend, and I hate the fact that I'm giving up an October weekend to do it ... so bring on the rain!

Screw it, I'm going duck hunting.

The camo, gun, gear and dog are packed. I'm just waiting for Tyler to get home from school.

I think Frances wins with the right choice for this weekend. This is duck hunting weather. John23, you get the booobie prize for doing home projects on the weekend in October.

Perfect....Sounds like less boat traffic. Should give me plenty of room to toss the anchor out and cast to the hot spots!!!

So you are the one always screwing up the Conga line by anchoring

I wish you luck. I will be out the following week.

i dont think anyone can necessarily put a definate result on any particular fish response to any particular weather pattern, as ive seen many posts on this website by experienced anglers--and wannabees--who have been perplexed by the outcome vs. their expectation.

ive caught fish in the fall under these conditions despite being tough to work, and ive gotten skunked fishing what i anticipated to be ideal/perfect conditions.

so, like others have indicated, if you have other past times and "to-dos", you might chose one of them. or, if you only fish, then go! im going sunday night i think!

Good luck to the duck hunters...hope there's some good shooting out there.
Gary, thanks for the explanation Fishing under a full moon on a beautiful night just might not happen this year...I likely won't run up unless my son can go with. Went up solo 2 years ago - beautiful night but windy....talk about a "one arm paperhanger" experience. Sure is a kick when you feel that tug on the line.....

Perch biting in Isle Bay yet?

Tuff bite. 4 fish, 2 in the slot. Nothing picture worthy. Biggest was a 22. Still a fun nite out with my bro. Water temp was 57. Blustery winds out of the NE with spurts of rain. East side rock/sand transition area near shore in 5-8 fow. Time for bed!

Yep slow night on the north end. Only three eyes nothing photo worthy. But did get a mid forties musky which made for some excitement. Sure was great getting out.

Another tuff night out there for our boat. We stuck to the east side rocks. 3 in the boat and a couple that shook off. Nothing worth pulling the camera out for in the rain.... Talked to a few guys working the north side and had similar results. Water temp continues to drop nicely. 53.2 when we called it quits this morning. You guys who stayed home didn't miss anything. Have not talked to anyone killing them. But we all know someone probably got into them.

Sounds like at least a couple launch boats are still getting fish corking the deep sides of the mud.

May pack 'er up and head home. Had planned to stay up thru Wed. Hit it hard next week!

Same for us and everyone we talked to. Very tough go. We landed an eye and a pike Friday night and only had one taker on Sat night.
Water temps. are now where they need to be but we need stable weather. The rapid rapid drop, the big front, and the high winds has them screwed up. By next weekend things should be good to go.

Any one been watching those highs for next weekend. Where did fall go. Looks like we are going to jump rite into winter. I bet those water temps will be in the mid forties by this weekend.
