I recently posted a couple questions in the Muskie and Pike fourm without any responces so I thought I would submit my inquiries here. A couple days ago I was browsing Cabelas web site looking for PowerPro and ran across a new to me item called PowerPro Hollow Core Line. It struck an imediate interest to me because the first thought I had was a little lead core trick where you remove the lead from the core incert your leader tie a couple overhand knots and presto changeo your leader is attached easily without having to attach a swivel or having to do a couple unis. This is what I got from the PowerPro site Quote:
Hollow Core For the Big Game angler, PowerPro has introduced a Hollow Core product which will allow you to make "finger trap" connections with monofilament or spliced loops for wind on leaders. Just like all PowerPro lines, Hollow Core's small diameter gives you more line capacity than any other Spectra braid on the market! Our special construction makes the braid easy to open so that you can splice in a mono leader to achieve the highest main line to leader strength possible. Try Hollow Core for making your own wind on leaders.
And this is what I got from Cabela's site Quote:
PowerPro Hollow Core Line The sturdy 100% Spectraź Fiber braid used in the special construction of Hollow Core lets it open easily, and makes splicing loops a snap. It also increases resistance to knotting. Make custom wind-on leaders to your own specifications. Uses the "finger-trapping'' method to secure monofilament leaders to the line.
Both explantations say you can easily splice mono to the hollow core but for the toothy critters I like to use the 49 strand Tyger wire. Since this stuff is rather expensive I don't want to lay out $54.99 for 300 yards of 80 pound if it is not going to work for me.
Does anyone have experiance using the Hollow Core line?
