Another installment, Humminbird Down Imaging pics

#824683 - 10/07/09 10:47 AM

Some more factory-fresh pics from down south. Some of these are of natural structural features, some are of man-made things. I can't wait to get my hands on this software!

And yet more! I love the solo tree in the third screen capture.

Are there any fish or bait fish in those pictures?

I haven't had the chance to review these in any detail, but this sure looks like a ball of baitfish to me.

That particular picture was the reason behind my question. Thank J!

You beat me to posting the pictures Jason.

Yes that is a ball of bait fish. There are some real nice pictures of the bait fish around the structure both trees and the old bridge.

What's your gut feel for it picking up eyes on the bottom?

We'll find out soon, but I suspect it will be much better at identifying suspended fish, or even fish slightly off the bottom, than it will be at seeing fish glued to the floor. Remember, this is not a replacement for 2D sonar...it's a way of enhancing our knowledge of what's beneath the boat. That knowledge will come from a variety of pieces of information, including 2d, side imaging, and now down imaging.
