Small eyes

#825586 - 10/10/09 08:30 AM

Spent five nights fishing out of the Red Door. The pigs eluded us,but we did boat a whole lot of small eyes in the 17 to 24 in range after we figured out what they wanted.
Shallow rock and weeds to the west pulling jointed Rapala floaters in Silver and black and pikie pattern.Five ft.and up to 3 ft. 40 to 50 ft. of line, speeds at 1.5 to 1.8,rod tips held high to stay just under the surface.
We tried every night out on the weed lines and never got a bite where in years past we would get the chunks.
The wind was great all but one night and the new cabins at the Red Door are very nice. All in all it was a great week away again.

Thanks for the update and tips Stuart. My Red Door trip is coming up in about 2 weeks. I'll have to grab some jointed floaters just in case.

Other than one day,it was good to hear you didnt curse everyones fishing this year with horrible weather like you normally do!

I hear the new cabins at the Door are very nice as well.

Stuart,
Way to go on getting some shallow fish. Hope you can get back up there, when the big girls get going...

Nice report Stuart.

Jointed Raps, I used to use those all the time on the East Side! I think I saw you on Thursday night up there all shallow and stuff.
