personal best this week on the rainy river.

#826482 - 10/13/09 09:41 PM

went up for a week. started off hot, then slowed for about 3 days. the last day we were there, we drifted around the bay at clementson and just hammered the pigs. 4 fish 5.5+ lbs. had one bigger lost it at the net. lots of slot fish this year.

gold strobe jigs from jb lures were the ticket.

nothing of size. to be honest, after we each catch one we've had our fill and just try and horse the rest up....

but really we only hooked into about 1/3 the number of sturgeon we normally do. and they weren't jumpin in the morning like they usually do.

the bait guys pulled a 62" out of their seine nets. it killed about 1/2 the shiners in the net...they were pissed.

Nice Fish!! Shaped like a football!! Skipjacks running yet?? My buddy says he's been laying the wood to them on the river, but just can't pull myself off the lake. Too many fish to catch and so little time!!

Congrats on your PB!! Both the River and the lake gives them out like Christmas presents each fall and spring!! NOW!! Get up here January/February for the Big pigs!!

no skipjacks to speak off and i dont' remember hearing anyone saying they were catching any.

the slot fish were enough to keep us from venturing out to the gap. a guy at the resort went out to LH gap for 2 days and said there was nothing of size but they consistantly caught fish.
