I thought I would pass this info along to any of you folks that ever tossed the idea around or had an interest in hooking up with someone on a fishing trip with the hopes of having a good time and catching some fish.
I wanted to treat my mother and my wife Carla to a good fishing trip. Back in the early part of September when it was still hot out , I booked a day long trip on the water for mid Oct. the fishing should be good and according to the last few years October has been warm. Well maybe warm for the last bunch of Octobers but not this year! This year October has been cool cold and rainy, and I’m thinking with a little luck a nice cool day and the fishing should be great and the ladies will have a blast.
Well Saturday the 10th our big day came along and on our road trip to the lake my temp gauge dipped to 17 above at the lowest point, Yikes! needless to say I had to ladies looking at each other and wondering what they may be getting their selves into. I stressed before leaving the importance of good thermo clothing to help keep the chill down and when dressed at the boat landing they both looked a little clumsy but adapted to the extra clothes.
We met up with our fishing guide Joel Ballweg and after a quick intro we were heading to the first fishing spot, Believe me the weather was a test of witts and I was glad to see everyone was catching fish, having some action alone helps to stay warm and time passes fast. As the day came to an end everyone was still having a good time and we had to head back home. I asked my mom and Carla what they thought of the whole trip while having to deal with what Mother Nature had in plan for that day; their comments were that they really had a good time, and what really impressed them the most, and mainly my mom for she has had the opportunity to fish in other places with fishing guides before was the fact that Joel was very courteous he had no problems with having to make a trip back to the landing for a bathroom break, he focused on trying to put us on good fish yet working the areas out of the wind, and most of all as they put it he was constantly changing colors and jigs to keep us hooking fish that’s one comment my mom said a lot of other folks she seen lacked.
Did this really make a difference?
I think it did we caught a lot of nice fish and at the boat landing most of the folks were grumbling about getting skunked and having a tough day. I went home with some ladies that had a day they will always remember, and my mom is already telling everyone about her special trip.
Thanks, Joel Ballweg for a great time!

Thanks Jeff! That was really nice of you to write up a "Thank You" like that.
Many times I've wondered what people really think after a day on the water in my boat. This time, I don't need to wonder.
I'm very, very happy to hear the three of you, despite the harsh weather conditions, enjoyed your day of fishing on Lake Wisconsin.
Thanks again Jeff!
Sincerely, Joel Ballweg

As long as you don't Dewey your line into the prop he is pretty easy to get along with. Isn't that right Netman?

That reminds me....I gotta get a hold of Dean at Everts Resort and put one of those prop guards he has on my boat.

I am also reminded, to hide my booze next spring. I should go easy on Netman. It isn't like he dropped a brand new avid in the river or anything.
