i have a post about this in mn form but i figured this was more appropriate spot.
i measured it at 24 inches i didn't get a girth didn't think it was anything special. my scale weighted it at 5.5 after searching some different length to wight scales and testing the scale to see it was over two pounds off =/ i sit here thinking i could of let go a mn state record.

Based on the scoresheet my club uses, a 24" Bass would be approx 8.6#
You need a good Measuring board. Many good Aluminum ones on the market. Measure Nose to bump end and tail pinched.
Yes, this may have been a State Record.
Thanks for Releasing it.

I caught a 23.5 incher last year and it weighed in at 6 pounds 12 ounces. I would say that yours was prob around 7 pounds 2 ounces but no worries it would not be the new state record. NICE FISH though. I would pay money to know where you got that one...

Either compare your scale to a known accurate scale or try weighing things with known weights. That will help you figure out if your scale is off. Fish weights can vary dramatically from the weight charts, but if it was 24" the 5.5# weight does seem a little light.

At the left of the picture, the tape ends at 3". It appears the tail probably ends at 2". At the right of the picture, the mouth is open and it appears to be sitting between 23.5" to 24". Close the mouth, you are probably sitting at 23" (proper way to measure smallmouth)
Best bet that I can tell, by looking at the picture, is that the fish is 21".
NICE FISH!!!!
Also, doing some other views, it appears that the fish is 7" top to bottom. Guessing it might be 2" wide atleast, probably 3" wide, you are looking at a 18-20" girth. a 21" fish with an 18" girth will average mid 6lb range.
Again, beauty of a fish! CONGRATS!!!!! You have a good pic, I would look at getting a replica of that baby!
