And the WINNER is..........................

#827912 - 10/19/09 07:18 PM

The winner of the Guess the weight contest for the Saugerama would be.................. KOOTY
25.9lbs
BF = 4.9

25.9 would translate to 25lbs 14.4oz

It was a very close battle with Fishin Fool guessing 25lbs 14oz.

Thank you all for participating and good luck next year.
Kooty pm dean for details.

Wow, I knew my endless posting here would pay off someday.

I'll be on the phone to Dean at 5AM. "Hey, I'll be coming down next month. Do you think the fish will be biting??"

Thanks so much Dean and Evert's Resort for sponsoring this fun chance for all us non-fishing members. Sounds like I need to line up a trip to Pool 4 in the near future.

".9" indicates nine tenths of a pound. A tenth of a pound is 1.6 ounces. 9 x 1.6 = 14.4 ounces

yeah....i'm thinking it should have been specified as to how to guess your weight, so that everyone had the same measurements.

how do you know it was 25.9 or 25lbs 9 ounces?

just curious....cause a lot of people stated their guesses in different formats.

This is very basic math here guys.

A decimal point means "A point or dot used to separate the whole number part from the fractional part of a number." The measurements "pounds" and "ounces" and the abbreviations for the same are also standardized.

http://www.mathsisfun.com/definitions/decimal-point.html

I went back through and re-read every entry. There is ABSOLUTELY ZERO CONFUSION here. None. People were very deliberate with their entries... some even guessed down to the hundredths of a pound. Two "guess" methods were used. Some people used a decimal to indicate "tenths." Others wrote ounces or used the abbreviation "oz." Regardless of the "format" used to enter it is simple math to convert in either direction to come up with the exact weight selected by each participant and I could not find an entry that was vague or unclear.

Maybe this one should end with "And then the fight started".

Great guess Kooty - enjoy the rod.

Kooty, while your down picking out your new rod, make sure to have Dean show you which end to hold on to before you go out!
