10/22/09 - Advice/Ideas

#828656 - 10/22/09 01:46 PM

So I've been stuck sick at home with the flu for the last week and have decided to try to find some fish tonight. My buddy Jake and I are thinking about trying to take the canoe out in search of some walleye. We were originally thinking of hitting pool 2 but then saw we have 13-14 mph winds all night. We've gone out in much stronger winds but I personally don't want to deal with it tonight. My questions is, does anyone have any ideas of places we can hit to try for a few eyes? We'd be fishig from around 6 or 6:30 until 10 or 11pm. Any place between the Twin Cities and Elk River is fair game. We were thinking the Rum River because its a smaller system and it seems to be easier to keep out of the wind, the problem is it has not been producing lately. Any good ideas would be awesome! I'm feeling good and need to get out! Staying in for a week is begining to drive me nuts!!!

Perhaps Calhoun or Lake Harriet? Been seeing an increased number of boats out there the last few weeks, and it appeared that a few were targeting walleyes.

Think the night bite would be ok there?

Fish pretty deep I presume?

When you ask the wife if you can go fish - doesn't it feel a lot like asking your mom if you can go play with your friends?
