Just wondering why the resorts etc. on Leech Lake do not cater to ice fisherman. When you look at other "bigger" lakes, Mille Lacs, Winnie, Red Lake, Lake of the Woods, all seem to have a healthy group that handles ice fishing. Most have ice house rental (including sleepers), plowed roads with access fee's, but not on Leech (at least that I can find). Anyone know why this is??
Leech Lake has a health population of Walleyes, Perch and Northern Pike all which are targeted through the ice.

well they sure have one heck of a pout fishing tourney! But other than that, you got an excellent question.

Brindley's harbor resort is on pine point and they do cater to ice fisherman. We stay their 4 times a year and they have top notch service. A big bonus is they clean and package all your fish for free.

I went to their website and it looks like they run a nice operation. But I am wondering why not rent houses or offer lake road access for a fee? Their website specifically says "We do not rent ice houses only" and "We do not have non-guest lake access." Not criticizing just wondering.

Just guessing but it appears they only guide with portables mainly or maybe in perms? The road(s) they maintain probably are not connecting to any public access would also be my guess. Will have to call them and find out as I was always interested in trying leech out on the ice someday myself.

Not sure,.....interesting observation. May be lack of land sizes or lake association agreements.
Tell you what though, I'm loving it! Nothing like 1000's of acres of virgin ice all year long.
