Third times the charm, yeah?
Is it a contest? Is it just a sturgeon-lover's outing? Is there cost above and beyond transportation, food and lodging (guide fees, entry fees, etc.)? It sounds like a blast but I don't want to commit without knowing some of the details.

I think that best describes it.
It's the kick off to the new years open water season. We've had a for fun contest each year for the top three largest Stugi.
I've been asked to guide for this event, but have turned them down. No need for a guide. There are plenty of sturgeon experts on Ido to well prepare a person for a great time.
Transportation, lodging, food and drink. Depending on how hard core you are 1/2 to a full flat of crawlers will take care of your bait needs. Some pick up minnows too.
There are so many sturgeon coming into the Rainy River system that you can fish anytime and have an excellent chance at a 50+ inch fish and there are more and more 60+ inchers being caught each year.
There's places to go where you can fish alone or anchor in line with the crowd. This is social fishing at it's finest. Some find it just as much fun to anchor in the long line of boats and watch others get man handled as it is to catch fish themselves.
Must have winter clothing along.
Most of the time the ice hasn't left the lake. Fishing next to ice and with a slight wind is ..well, cold.
There isn't a way to describe sturgeon fishing. Very easy because you're anchored, incredibly thrilling once hooked up. Oh yeah...might want to plan out what everyone is going to do when the big one connects. Even when the plans are layed out, it's been described as "keystone cops" when the fish goes around the boat and anchor a few times.

Bam, got it. W00t! Now to talk Scary Jeff, my wife, and a couple other folks into coming along.
I know at least myself and Scary Jeff will be there. The cabin sleeps 7. That leaves room for another 3-4 people... if anyone wants to come and wants to go in on the cabin, just let me know and we can talk about it.
Thanks for the chance to play!!
