DEER CAMP!! Post Your Trophy!!

#831810 - 11/03/09 07:11 AM

Good Luck Deer hunting everyone!! Great traditions will be carried on starting mid week for this Buck Chaser. Be safe...Be Safe....Shoot that "Dirty Tirdy Pointer" If we don't get him first.

Post your trophies here!! Oh by the way Trophies don't necessarily need to be big stompers!! You might even see my trophy "Swamp Doe" should the opportunity present itself!!

this seems to be an unusually short post for after deer opener...we blanked...but lots of fun with my boys and family and some good friends...we got two more weekends though...lots of time!

I think it is fair to say the full moon phase coupled with warm weather has limited deer movements in the daylight. We have a camp of 5, and have worked pretty hard. I managed a QFM (Quality Freezer Management) buck on the opener, and a nice big bodied 8 pointer thus far. Dragged the 8 pointer half way across Northern Minnesota in seemingly a human tractor pull. After winning the Marco.......Polo contest. Shot the 8 at about 15 yards in the junk (Not IN the junk....But in the JUNK). Swamp forker came off my stand after I watched him thrash a pine tree like a tough guy. Let a few does go, and my buddy let a forker go and also a couple does. Dad had a 6 pointer (Basket) work in over his right shoulder before pinning him in his stand before giving him the stomp, blow and jump out of sight. Back for a couple days to catch up on life/emails before heading back to the swamp. Doing my cold weather dance. Not seeing any sign of Peak Rut. Working lots of rubs and scrapes, and don't believe I've even witnessing much Tending to the Does. All the Does have been alone at least with breeding bucks a few hours behind the scent, and have taken pics of Does (Some with fawns still trailing) Obviously bucks haven't chased off the chillins for GO TIME!! U can RUN, But you can't hide!! Wish they were running instead of hiding!! Gotta love the Challenge of Big Woods Bucks!!

Oh.....Found some paddles, and bagges a few grouse prior to the opener. Northoods experience.........GOOD!! Haven't seen any wolves or moose YET!!

Get after em Boys
