Was sitting in my stand the other night and a small 8pt walks by. Something looked odd--it had the whitest butt I ever saw on a deer. As I was staring at this deer I finally realized it had no tail, no stub, no anything. The tail is a big communicator for the whitetail. Does this mean he's mute?

No, he's not mute, he just hasn't had any tail in awhile.

I shot a doe in Iowa that didn't have a tail. She was the lead doe in a herd of 15 to 20.
