Getting better AM reception??

#832269 - 11/04/09 01:31 PM

I seem to get horrible AM reception in my truck. I can barely pick up stations that come in strongly on other radios. This is really frustrating on Saturdays when I'm trying to catch a football game while out and about. Anyone have any idea how to increase my AM reception? I have an aftermarket Sony CD player if that is any help?

This is dated from the '70's.

Check the owners manual. There should be a small screw to adjust for AM antenna tuning somewhere.

At one time it was inside the opening that held the 8 track.

Not sure where they've placed them now.

Was it always like that or did it just start being lousy????
Had a Dodge 1500 that one day just got lousy reception. New anteana(sp) did the trick. Cheap try......

Almost all AM stations shut down there frequency (sp check) booster after sun down. Now with daylight savings and it getting dark at 4:30 your AM station will suck again until Easter or when ever the time change is again. Sorry, but not much you can do about it. I don't know if a antenna booster will fix or not.

well I looked at the destruction manual for my CD player and it doesn't look like there is any way to adjust the AM reception. I may look into a new antenna or a booster by chance...
