This is a couple of shots of my friend ElRoy holding down a couple of tigers. As much fun as one at a time is, it gets pretty exciting in the boat when you have a couple this size on. You have to hang on to your rod for dear life and net the fish with the other hand. Once my fish was in the boat, ElRoy's swam around the anchor rope so I had to pull the anchor (not easy, I was using one of my Red River anchors), pull the anchor around ElRoy's line. Once free, the fish swam to the back of the boat so I tossed the anchor out again. We were drifting toward Canada so needed to get stopped. The fish heard the anchor go over (I swear) and immediately did a rewrap on the anchor line. So of course I pulled it again and we did get the fish in the boat.
What fun. Show us your double.

Well, if I hadn't been needed to net the flathead, these two would have been our best double last summer. I'm not sure if Mary's settled down yet.
Then there was St Croixer. One shovel and on laker.
Last years double shovel...
From 07. Were you talking about sturgeon only?
Bob Moore of Moores Bait and Tackle had 7 (?) in the boat within 30 minutes. Not sure if that counts either.
That reminds me. For you guys looking for a local bait shop that supplies EVERYthing for Sturgeon and Cats, Moores is THE place in the twin cities and likely the 5 state area for this type of gear.
I've heard he has gear for other fish too...but can't prove it by me.

Pier bridge had his first double flats. But I can't seem to find his photo.
Would this one count? Ralph with his rod doubled?

These were from 2008. These two came along at same time, looked like twins.
Shortly after Shamu and I each got one at the same time.
It was a fun outing

I do love to see those rainbow rods. Don't you love it when they bend them over then take a run and the line hisses through the water like a banjo string?

That is some truly awesome flat heads. That one looks like a double all by herself. Need help holding that?

I took about 8 pictures of Mary holding her flat. There was maybe two where she was smiling. The others had the signs of strain in her face.
The sound I love to hear is in April. The kerplunk of the first 4 oz sinker hitting the water. Music to my ears!

Funny, that's the sound I was hearing last night.
OH, wait, you meant on the other end of the season? Feh.
OK so I don't have any double-header pictures to share, but I do have one "double-strength" photo to share. I was fishing the current on the spillway at Coon Rapids Dam around 3-4 AM one morning and my bobber went down. I hauled on my rod and texted my buddy who'd just left to come back and help me land what was obviously going to be my biggest fish of the season. Before he could get back from the parking lot (it really is a bit of a hike up there), I ended up getting the fish in, but only because it was half or less the size I expected. The reason? Well, a picture is worth a thousand words.
The moral of the story is this: A catfish hooked in the current and by the tail feels at LEAST double the size it really is.

I believe the statute of limitations has expired, so I can tell you this. A spawn running carp in Rice Creek snagged in the back puts up one heck of a fight.*
*DISCLAIMER: I was about 10-12 years old at the time.
And by the way, all I ask for is a single.
-------------------- If I am out fishing, I might be streaming it live. Next outing, Sunday the 21st in the afternoon.
