Isn't the correct style of jig just as important though? So having the same weight in a multiple of styles should be taken into consideration.

I must admitt that I too carry every size imaginable. I even go beyond 5/8ths, if we are fishing deep fish in sweeping current from something stationary, ie a fishing barge. I usually carry upwards of 1 oz, but rarely use them. Gotta admitt, they do come in handy. This weekend, we got on pool 11 at 530 and were banging walleyes in 4-5 feet of water with 1/8th- 1/4th oz jigs, but later in the morning they moved deep and we were using 3/4 oz and 1 oz jigs with ringies, tagging hawg saugers. So, I say bring em all, cuz you'll use them. My most used sizes would be 1/16th- 1/4 oz.

I have everything from 1/32 to 1 oz. I have many different colors of each but every time I go to pool 4 I seem to come home with some new ones. A jig guy's box is never complete, the box always has room for a few more jigs.

While north of Everts on Sunday, I kept loosing bottom contact due to the strong flow and currents.. I switched from 1/4 oz to 3/8 and promptly caught my PB Sauger. About 22". Not huge, but still a very nice fish. E quickly got a picture and of it before it was released.

I think it all depends on your style of fishing. Vertical jiggers will probably have more sizes than pitchers. I do some of both but tend to pitch more than jig so I usually have about 4-5 sizes between 1/16 and 3/8. Typically if I need more than 3/8 I switch techniques and find fish elsewhere.
That's not to say I've never jigged 3/4 oz to 1 oz jigs, I just prefer not too. All summer long I use 1/16 oz to 3/8 oz jigs pitching on wing dams, and haven't really had to swtich for spring or fall yet.

Since I never know where the fish are for sure until I find them I don't know what size of jig I will need, so I carry everything from 1/32 to 3/4 oz.
Woops, I just realized this thread is in the Mississippi River - Walleye forum, I would still carry all of them...

Jig color, size and weight, can you ever have enough? My answer is no. Big or small gotta have 'em all, but 3/16 is what I have most of.
