fish any time

I’ve been down to P4 3 of the past 8 days with mixed results. All 3 days I have pulled 3-ways and F-7’s and F-9’s. Each day was spent with people that either don’t fish often or don’t have the means to go fishing.
The first day was spent fishing with my friend Paul. Paul has spent a lot of time (6 of the past 7 days) on the stand this fall and so he was due for a change of scenery. On a whim I gave him a call and offered him a seat in the boat for the day the he gratefully accepted. We checked in with Dean and paid the cookie fee and were off. On this day we spent most of our time near the dam but away from the crowd. Most of our fish were caught in a 100 yard stretch without one color standing out with a fish coming about every other pass. I changed out to a chartreuse color on this cloudy day (go figure) and multiple fish were coming on every pass. We ended the day a little early as Paul had to get home to take his son to hockey practice, but Paul took home 11 fish to share with his family. We also threw back at least another 15 dink fish.
I was back again on Saturday with my wife Peggy and what a beautiful day it was. Unfortunately for us the bite was off some. No real consistent color was found, but we scrounged for 4 box fish (perfect for a meal) and had another 6-8 dinks.
Yesterday (Thursday) was the best for us on size. I shared my boat with Dick who is the father of a high school buddy of mine. Dick actually passed on the seat I offered to Paul the week prier, but once Paul talked to Dick at deer camp he was eager to go when I offered again. We stopped in talked to Dean and were off. This day the bites were coming fairly regular and a little larger in size once we discovered that gold was the color with fish coming on just about every pass until we hit a lull late in the morning. After taking a quick rest and warm up at the resort we made some adjustments and were back to chartreuse for color running a little deeper around the clam bed in the afternoon catching fish again fairly consistent. We wrapped things up around 3:30 and headed back to the resort to clean the fish at Everts very fine processing facility. We had a fun day on the water despite the wind and Dick home a nice batch of fish to help get him through the winter and we tossed back another 15 or so dinks.
Our 3-way rigs were pretty simple consisting #4 (I think) swivel attached to a 12” dropper and a 40” leader. I used 12# test for both leader and dropper.
Yesterdays fishing seemed to hold true to what Dean said; “I’d rather be fishing the wrong bait perfectly than to be fishing the right bait not so perfectly.” We talked to other boats who said they were fishing the same methods (speed, dropper/leader, colors) but only caught a few fish. Some guys had a great day jigging while others struggled.
Well, that’s the fishing for my boat.
