Hey Guys, After a long time off the water I am happy to report that pool 4 is going strong. My buddy and I went down to Everts this afternoon for a little sauger fishing. If you need up to date information Dean at Everts has it. After a quick chat with him and a few of the hot colors that he recomended we hit the river. We started by the dam and never had to leave. We anchored up on a nice current seem and dropped some dead sticks out and pitched with our other rods. The action wasn't the fast and furious type bite but it made up for it by being steady. We had our limit of fish in 2 hours and they were all in the 15-18 inch range. We also had a 21 inch'r(pictured) and a few short fish mixed in. Picture 2 is Charlie's "Record fish" of the day. He's extremely proud of it. Super doos, paddletails, and ringworms all caught fish as well as blades. Our top colors were white, chart. pepper and black. A slow presentation is the key right now. Like I said before dean has some awesome information and made finding the fish for us a ton easier. Good luck out there.
P.S. sorry for the bad quality of the pictures they were taken with my blackberry.

Boy, you are spoiled. Not fast and furious yet you had your limit in 2 hours and threw back the bigger fish. Few places in the world that wouldn't be considered fast and furious You either had one heck of a good teacher or you have been very lucky if you don't think that is fast and furious

Not sure if the boy will be in here today or not but I talked to him last night and he said they were dropping down Super Doos and putting them a foot or so off the bottom and putting the rod in the holder for their deadsticks. Of course everyone know Super Doos don't catch fish so he may have been pulling my leg

The possibilities are endless, but I believe junior had a superdoo for his deadstick yesterday.
Generally speaking a 3-way rig with livebait is most common, but a ringworm and or a floating rapala has been deadly as well.Hovering another presentation in front of neutral or inactive fish can be a day saver on slow bite windows.

They hit it on the nose. I very seldom use live bait in the winter months. We put on a 5/16 jig with superdoos and just dropped them till they hit bottom and closed the bail. The current would pull the line and bait so that the line was at an angle putting the bait about 1 foot off the bottom. Then just stick it in the rod holder and let it sit. The current and waves from the boat traffic give the bait plenty of action and can entice the fish into hitting it. Ringworms and paddletails also will work for this but the superdoos subtle action make it one of my favorites.
