Hey guys. I'm looking at a new jigging stick and am trying to figure out what to get. I'm pretty much a St. Croix guy looking again at another Avid. This rod will be exclusively for vertical jigging. My question is do I want an extra fast action or will a fast action be better. I've always heard the faster the action the more sensitivity. Or am I wrong and the blank (graphite) is really all I need to look at. I'm leaning toward a 5'9" med x-fast avid but would do a 6' med fast if any one has a good reason not to do the x-fast action.
As pete mentioned, hardline or mono, and jig weight are definite factors. In large the XF action seems to be most anglers preference here. You are more than welcome to fish them side by side to compare for yourself, the rod that suits your application best.If you are consistantly fishing jig weights at our above 3/8th I would suggest MXF,less jig weight the MLXF.
