Hello all,
I am going to be doing a lot of Laker fishing this year and wanted some input as to what everyone is using. This past year I had great success with Slender Spoons, so much so that I pretty much stuck to them and didn't do much research on any other presentations. Specifics would be a great help. Thanks.

The larger slenders outproduced everything else we tried over the last couple seasons to such a degree that it is hard to get away from them. But we did catch some fish on white tubes in 3" - 4" sizes as well as on airplane jigs with bright colored bucktail. Between those three you'd have your bases covered in most situations.

I've had good luck using a chartruse pepper tube it out produced the white tube for me. what i do is when the buck tail gets wore out i replace the fur with a tube.

Just about any bass jig designed for use in a tube will work fine as long as you have a good hook gap and a sharp point. 1/4 Oz. for the 3" tubes and 1/2 oz. for the 4" tubes seemed to work well in the waters we've been fishing that averaged 45 - 110 deep. In deeper water you would likely benefit from a heavier jig so you don't spend so much time getting that tube back down to the fish.

Thanks again James! I will fish anywhere from 35' to 150' of water targeting Lakers. Do you fish with a specific type of line, other than Flouro, at those depths? I am mobile so braid is out, but I would love to use something that has low stretch and little to no water absorption. Thanks again!

Berkley Vanish fluoro in 8# - 12# has served me well in the situation you described. Reasonably low stretch (not as low stretch as a braid, of course) and it doesn't absorb water so you don't end up with a block of ice on the spool when you're out of doors. I can't say I've ever felt like I needed to make any changes... it just works very, very well for the way I fish.
